Let’s talk cheese this week, shall we?
While you should undoubtedly be planning your meals, still skipping fast food, reserving restaurants for special occasions (or, as another commenter shared, business), and getting in your water as regularly as possible, we’ve also got to find new ways to enjoy the things you truly like, right?
So… let’s make that happen. Starting with cheese.
Pick a cheese. Any cheese:
- goat cheese
- gorgonzola (preferably, but any blue cheese will do)
- mozzarella
Buy it. It shouldn’t be pre-shredded, pre-sliced or anything like that. Mozzarella comes in a big ball that looks, to me, the way congealed glue might look if you let it. Goat cheese normally comes sold in a tube. And, though some store brands will sell gorgonzola (I’m thinking both Publix and Kroger do this) pre-crumbled in a little 5oz container, you can also just get a small slice from a cheese wheel.
Store it. Definitely the fridge, and not on the fridge door.
Experiment with it if you want, but I’ll be sharing some of my favorite recipes for exploring these cheeses this week.
Also: has your local farmer’s market started up yet for the season? If so, where? Which ones do you attend?

Yaa can’t wait my family and I eat a lot of cheese
I’m so happy I came across this article. People will tell you that dairy doesn’t really fit in when it comes to eating clean because it is processed. This makes so much sense!!!!! I LOVE cheese and I’m starting with FRESH mozzarella
Do I have to give up my babybel lights? Are those bad? Unclean?
What are your thoughts on brie or camembert? What should/should not be in cheese? How do I know what/if anything, is clean?
Please tell me the feta cheese is ok! I LOVE it!
I just started eating cheese again. Would you tell how goat cheese taste? Is cheddar cheese ok ? where do I find a ball of cheese. Thanks.
We’ll explore cheddar at another date.
Goat cheese is smooth, creamy – well, sometimes a little dry – and has a taste that is similar to a cross between sour cream and whipped cream.
You can find balls of mozzarella at any grocery store, probably in the fresh cheese section (if they have one). I know that Whole Foods has one.
Good lord Erika! You look great! I am glad I came across this website! I love cheese as well and wondered if it is “clean” to eat 🙂
I’ve been doing boot camp classes for almost a year now and wanted to find a diet plan….wait its not a diet…its a lifestyle change that I can stick to for life! Thanks for sharing your stories and your tips!
