Fit Gear Review: Champion Absolute Cami Sports Bra

by Erika Nicole Kendall

I’d like to consider myself a sports bra aficionado. I mean, I live in them. I eat in them. I sleep in them. I inhale cotton and I exhale spandex.

So, when my good friends at Champion reached out and offered to send me one of their Absolute Cami sports bras with their SmoothTec band, of course I said yes.

The Absolute Cami is a virtually seamless bra. There’s a seam along the top of the bra, but the bottom dissolves into this form fitting seam-free band that is not only comfortable, but secure. The straps are thin—a dead giveaway that this is not a bra built for high impact activity—and adjustable, ultimately forming a racerback “T” in the back.

The bra is sturdy. I mean, whoa. Mostly polyester instead of the standard nylon, this bra comes on and does a pretty darn good job of staying put. It survived a yoga practice, a blitz of a morning jumping around to get my 9yo to school even though I woke up 20 minutes before she was supposed to be there, and several situations where I had to adjust the bra appropriately to nurse Baby Sprout.

There’s no padding in the bra—another sign that this isn’t a bra meant for heavy duty activity—and there’s no molding intended to separate your girls, but the bra actually feels cozy. You put it on and it feels soft—almost jerseyish—and secure, and it gets the job done. For a low-to-medium support bra (This would be a medium-support bra for anyone who is an A-C cup in my mind, and a C or above would find this to be a low-impact bra.), this gets the job done.

You can check out this bra at Champion’s website—and it’s even on sale right now!
