From Yahoo! Celebrity:
The stage and screen star, 54, singled out the women as representative of a fashion for women to have “huge great legs with massive thighs”.
In an interview with the Mail on Sunday (MoS) he also called Lady Gaga “terribly conventional” and claimed the “camp” Simon Cowell is “completely devastating” the British music scene.
But it was the female entertainers who drew his sharpest ire. He told the MoS: “I grew up with the ideal of female beauty being delicate with long, slim legs.
“Now it’s terribly ‘in’ for women to have these huge great legs with massive thighs.
“Rihanna has them, Kim Kardashian has them, Beyonce has them, with her elephant ankles and gigantic arse.
“I think it’s the reason these great big clumpy shoes are fashionable – to support these huge legs they all have.” [source]
Who said it?
Seriously, who gives a damn.
I notice that these comments are never – never – said about men. This kind of stuff is always reserved for the women of society.
And every time I bring this up, the response I get from guys is, “Well, we don’t screw men.”
But baby, you aren’t screwing Bey, you aren’t screwing Rih, and you aren’t screwing Kim. So why does your opinion matter?
Silence.
And, this is a man – a gay one, at that – who is so concerned with “female beauty” being “delicate.” He actually does “screw men,” yet he saves his ire for women. What an insufferable human being. I’m embarrassed for people who claim to enjoy his company.
Some day, we’ll talk about what kind of body image issues those “delicate” women taught their daughters, and what kind of hell they were raised into…
…but until then, I’m gonna wonder where the hell this dude got “elephant ankles” from.

Millionaire arses….that is all. He can shove it.
This is brilliant. You addressed it articulately but with an appropriate amount of humor. Keep up the good work–you’re awesome!
I can understand having opinions and “preferences” about what is attractive, but the guy sounds disgusted that these women are considered beautiful and that there is a population/audience for a different type of beauty. There are elements (okay entire swaths) of racial prejudice involved, but I am assuming this is also mourning (in a snarky way) about the passing of an era (that of his beloved youth) as well.
**OMGoodness, he’s calling Beyoncé enormous. I remember B. back in the day and how much she has struggled to maintain and lose weight because people were VICIOUS about her figure in her late DC and early solo career. Only to hear people still talk junk when she is at her thinnest ??!! makes me want to weep, how thin does a woman have to be to elude these comments?
Hey just came to your website today and I was blown away by your success story. Congrats for losing your weight you are inpiring people like crazy. Keep doing this great work Erica
Nah…. His statements were not so much sexist as they were racist. All the women named are WOC with traditional bodies. So HE has a preference? Preferences are personal and everyone has them like behinds….
It IS interesting that he didn’t identify a Katy Perry or something.
I couldn’t even get to the point of talking about anything else because I was so frustrated. So, so frustrated.
I gotta wholeheartedly agree with KjenNu…..im not going to drop my size 7, when I’m at my happiest, cause some fool thinks we’re too thick. My gay hubby would beat my tail lol he loves me for who I am, berates me for when I straighten my natural hair, gives me tips to
keep me looking good, but never comments about my weight negatively. That dude needs to get over himself and walk a day in our shoes. He’s probably got elephant ankles hiding under those Kenneth Cole slacks lol
some people enjoy nothing more than the sound of their own voice
Out of curiosity, Erika – why didn’t you give a name to go along with this statement? The whole anonymous nature of this type of criticism is what gives those people their power. Out that dude!
I don’t think I agree with that, that anonymity gives power, especially in this instance.
This was a celebrity, who gave his comments during a live appearance, and was reported on in Yahoo! for them. If anything, getting his name widely known and spread was probably the point. Taking aim at three mega-stars right now? From a guy who blames his failed career on “coming out” and admitting his sexuality?
Nah, having his name spread widely was most likely his raggedy little point. And I’m not going to give him that much.
Besides, there’s value to discussing his comments. I’d rather discuss those than give him the satisfaction of thinking he can crap on women to get attention. Make sense?
ooop…. just saw the link to the source. Rupert Murdock? I mean really. In my life, I could not care less.
Nah, you got the wrong Rupert. I purposefully didn’t identify him.
eeh Erika – i absolutely did get that wrong Rupert. That’s how little his identity resonates with me, it left my brain as soon as I left the website which identified him. Got your point, though. 🙂
I vaguely recall this dude being chummy with a 50-something female pop star who has also shown she’s a problem when it comes to race and ethnicity. Birds of a feather for sure . . .
I’m glad you didn’t identify the jack ass who made these comments. I was curious but then I thought about it and I’m like, whatever. I don’t even care. However, I am disgusted that people still feel this way. Sounds like this person hates women, especially WOC. Also, elephant ankles? Dude, get your eyes checked.
