Infographic: How To Find Real Food At The Supermarket

by Erika Nicole Kendall

I don’t like it when people make neat little graphics that explain things I’ve said in 1000 words. Sure, it makes it easier on you but dang it, I put a lot of effort into those 1000 words!

From Summer Tomato:

“Might it contain bacon anyway? Yes? Probably dog food. Eat at your own risk.”

Pardon me as I close the door on my own coffin, because I am dying of laughter over here!

I am so posting this on my tumblr and submitting to “I Love Charts”. I love this chart. This is how I try to shop when I’m in the supermarket and I’m trying to teach my husband to shop this way. I might print it for him and attach it to the grocery list.

I finally broke him of buying that sugar free “syrup” for pancakes when I read the label aloud to him. The only food product in it was water.

Hi, I love your site, and all your posts, informative and lol funny! I’ve been on a fitness and improved diet regime lately, and found out something kinda disturbing about a favorite snack of mine. You (and some of your readers) may have already known this, but I just found out that baby carrots are not always baby carrots! :-O i had no idea! they go through such an ugly process, that it seems the nutritional value gets depleted. This post reminds me to always always ALWAYS pay attn to labels. I bought a huge bag of “baby carrots weeks ago on sale, and then when I found out the truth I checked the bag again and sure enough it said “baby-cut” carrots. So these started off as larger carrots, were cut and sanded and shaved to a smaller size. Who knew?! Not me, but now i know that next time I need to make sure my labels say exactly what the product inside really is. I feel cheated lol!

This is so funny! Probably dog food, eat at own risk. Grab light bulbs for the garage, do not eat. LOL!! But when I think about it, I do shop like this too, or at least I try to. I will have to double check the labels. It might contain bacon anyway and I may have to give it to the neighbor’s dog, or eat at my own risk 😉 LOL

Love it…printing out and putting on the refrigerator. However, I am saddened at the dissing of bacon…I adore bacon, but these days I eat the turkey bacon. Just a little gives the yummy taste without all the fat and it crisps up so nicely 🙂
