What do you wish you knew in the beginning of your journey?
Thrift stores are your best friend! Before ya turn up your nose alot of things still have tags on them lol. I buy everything except shoes and underwear there. I probably will for awhile until I stop losing. One day at a time, you didn’t gain the weight overnight and ya won’t lose it overnight. Try and stay positive, one thing I’ve learned is not to tell people, a GOOD friend will tell you to go buy some new pants cuz you’ve lost weight, an unhappy person will make fun of you for your pants sagging.
This is perfect! Thanks for posting all of the get-started links in one place!
Surround yourself with people who support you and want to see you succeed. If you can’t find much support in your real life, there’s plenty of support online.
Good luck, J. You got this!
This is good
I wish I knew that running doesn’t mean you just buy running shoes and a sports bra and you’re set. Especially not in cold weather. I used to wear a short sleeve shirt and a winter jacket for running that would leave me bathed in sweat; would proceed to unzip it or take it off to continue running and the sweat would turn icy cold and I would be wet all the way back to my place, extremely unpleasant even after I put the jacked back on.
I’m lucky I didn’t catch something. In the meantime I talked to other runners and realized how dumb what I did was and now I have proper moisture wicking clothes and don’t overdress. Yay. I also used to avoid drinking throughout because I didn’t want to need to pee (lol), learned the hard way what running does to your bowel movements and started paying attention to what I eat and when in relation to running.
May I just say you look super cute in the video, Erika!
My advice: Don’t try to implement every single piece of advice you hear! People will tell you to not eat basically everything if you listen to everyone, they’ll tell you to do every type of workout and also not do those types because they’re actually bad blah blah blah
Try things, and do what works for you!
My personal opinion is also to stay away from too much “fitspiration” especially of the tumblr kind. It makes me look at the “big picture” that Erika was talking about here, and scroll through tons of pictures of “perfect” bodies that I start to look at going “I want her thighs, but her waist, but her…” NO. I will be happy with my body as it is when I am more healthy because I have worked for it and it is mine!
Hope all that made sense! All the best!!!
