Anyone else blushing right now? Just me? Oh. Okay.
The short answer, here, is “it depends.” Here’s why.
You know how muscles and muscle growth works, right? To engage your muscles means to use them and, essentially, challenge them. In order to use them, you have to flex – or squeeze – them. You squeeze them hard enough, for long enough, at a regular frequency and boom. You’ll experience muscle growth.
Think of the muscles that make up the lower back and upper thigh area. While there’s very little in the way of muscle that can make a booty poke out the way many of us are used to in our community, you can absolutely have the curve at the top that allows it to stick out, and you can build the muscles at the bottom to give it a nice shape and connection to your thighs.
That being said, there are definitely sexual positions that can encourage use of muscles in the thighs and the booty area that can help one develop larger, stronger muscles there. I’m not going to tell you which ones those are, though. You’ll have to do that digging yourself. Ahem.
At any rate, any time you are squeezing and releasing your muscles, you are using them and encouraging development. Doing it for an extended period of time encourages endurance; doing it hard enough encourages strength. It’s the difference between lifting a 10lb dumbbell 40 times and lifting a 40lb dumbbell 10 times. One requires – and encourages – more strength than the other. Sex can help increase muscle because, if you’re doing the right positions, it’s a lot of repetitive movements that challenge the muscle and therefore encourage development.
It should also be noted that, if you experience difficulty when trying to be more adventurous in the bedroom, it very well may be because you don’t have enough muscle to help you sustain the movement. If you’re, ahem, on top and start experiencing pain in your thighs, remember that it’s the same kind of pain you’d experience after a challenging set of squats. So not only can sex help with fitness, but fitness can help with sex. It truly is a sport. Er… ahem.
So, in short, yes, sex can help your butt grow, but so can sitting in your car on the way to work, because you can squeeze and release those muscles there, too.
Now, if you don’t mind, I’ve got some, um, booty work to take care of. Happy flexing!
