Fit Gear Review: Bose SIE2i Sport Headphones #livewithfire

If you know me, you know pretty well that I live in headphones.

No, literally. I’m pretty sure Eddy just recently asked me, “Am I going to have to spend the rest of my life with you living in headphones?”

I’m sad to say that the answer might be yes.

That’s why, when Reebok contacted me and asked if they could send over a pair of their all-new Bose SIE2i headphones… I might’ve jumped for joy.

These headphones, a combination of Bose’s quality in sound and Reebok’s attention to super-sporty detail, come complete with an armband – that I cannot comment on because, since I’m an avid Otterbox user who is deathly afraid of damaging my pricey smartphone investment, I didn’t take my phone out of its case to test out in the band – and an extra cable to extend the length of the headphones. I’m imaging that the original length of the headphone cord is just long enough for the cord to reach the armband without dangling and potentially interfering with your workout, but since I wear mine clipped to my waistband, I needed to use that extra cord.

The buds not only stay in your ear, but you can’t feel them. At. All. They come equipped with extra ear inserts for those of us with differently-sized ears, and while your mileage may vary, mine fit in without a hitch and it felt quite unobtrusive. Everything from jumping jacks to jogging to clean and jerks happened without a slip, pull, or yank. And, since I’m one of those awesome people who collects sweat in their ears, I was happy to see that the headphones largely rejected the sweat (and the damage to the interior of the headphones that comes with it.)

For iPhone users, the headphone buttons do respond to the “play,” “pause,” “accept/reject calls” and volume functions, but not the “switch song” function. As far as the mic is concerned, it’s either really low, or doesn’t work.

These are outdoor headphones – they are not noise cancelling, and the volume doesn’t get exceptionally loud to the point where you’re going to potentially give yourself a headache. If you’re an outdoor walker/runner, you’ll definitely be able to hear bikes, boarders, bladers, and other people’s voices near/around you. They can be indoor headphones, depending on how annoying the people are near you.

To test the headphones… I had to give it what I lovingly referred to as “The Timberlake Test,” since I can’t stop playing this song. Every time Eddy asked me why I had these headphones in all day, I just told him “Oh, I’m just Timberlake testing these headphones.”

Let’s…let’s just say they passed.

You can get the headphones from Reebok’s very own shop. They’re a pretty penny, but if the past two months of my non-stop testing – literally, almost going to bed in them – is any indication, these are definitely a worthwhile investment.
