Q&A Wednesday: Can We Talk About Booty Implants, Please?

Okay, family, I need to host a discussion, here.

I talk. A lot. About fit booties. I praise them because, quite frankly, I need to. I have to reinforce, for myself, that the goal is always to embrace my more fit frame, and accept that the donk will no longer look the way it looked. I’m at a point where I’m comfy with that. Besides, if you’re coming down from a larger frame to a smaller one, you can’t really expect to have the same figure as someone who has always been smaller. The muscle, really, is among the few things you can absolutely count on to sculpt your body.

That being said…I keep seeing these articles about booty implants and how they are going awry out here:

Police say they’ve questioned a person in the case of a British woman who died after receiving cosmetic injections in her buttocks at a hotel near Philadelphia International Airport.

Lt. Ray Evers said police issued a search warrant Tuesday night at the Bergen County, N.J., home of a woman they think set up the appointment online. The woman was questioned and was being considered a witness.

A 20-year-old British student died early Tuesday after she apparently flew to Philadelphia to get silicone injections into her buttocks at a Hampton Inn in southwest Philly.

Police executed a search warrant at the Hampton Inn on Bartram Avenue Tuesday afternoon with suspicions that a woman had performed butt implant procedures inside rooms, sources say.

Suspicions of these hotel-room medical procedures came about after Claudia Seye Aderotimi died around 1:30 a.m. after being taken to a Delaware County hospital, according to court documents.

Aderotimi had a butt enhancement procedure around noon Monday and started to complain of chest pain around midnight, police say.

This was the second time Aderotimi turned to this woman for buttocks enhancement, sources say. Aderotimi and her friend — who had her hips done this time around — had gotten butt-enhancement procedures last November, sources say.

It wasn’t clear if the woman who administered the injections was licensed to do so. She left after the procedures and wasn’t there when Aderotimi began feeling chest pain, sources said.

The woman also did a good job covering their tracks, police sources say.

The preliminary cause of death is attributed to silicone injected into the Aderotimi’s vascular system, ultimately stopping her heart, according to the Delaware County medical examiner, but it is “pending further studies.” The autopsy is not yet complete.

Four female students from England, including Aderotimi, traveled to Philadelphia on Saturday and planned to stay a week. Two of the women were here for support and to go to a New York City birthday party while the other two stayed in Philly to have cosmetic procedures performed, say police.

One woman paid $1,800 to get hip injections while the Aderotimi paid an unknown amount to have her buttocks enhanced, sources say.

There’s also this one:

And I’m asking y’all, because, quite frankly, I’m un-knowing. I just don’t know. What is going on out there? I mean, I think I understand the context under which a transgendered woman would think this is a deal – $700 for “the curves that will make me look like the woman I want to be” – but a 20 year old died because of this. Apparently, there are celebrities out there getting these? Who is getting butt injections? Why? Is this really common? How are y’all spotting these? Can someone explain this to me? What are your thoughts on them? ‘Cause your girl is… um… in awe.
