Video Vault: The Best 13 Minutes Of Your Life

Screen Shot 2012-12-11 at 8.21.23 AMI love Dr. Freedhoff. I feel like he’s one of the few people out there with an MD who feel the way I do about “the obesity epidemic,” and want to truly get down to the bottom of it all.

That being said, I love he. Lots.

And, as we’re going to be getting into the thick of my whole anti-processed food mentality – ergo, the Clean Eating Boot Camp – I think you should also see the video presentation that got Dr. Freedhoff invited – then disinvited – to speak at a major food industry event.

Yes, you read that correctly.

Below, is the presentation about what the industry should do to help with obesity. Suffice it to say, the event planners were looking for someone to tell them “fund more playgrounds! fund more sports activities! encourage more personal responsibility!” as opposed to “hey… stop being scumbags.”

I, personally, like Dr. Freedhoff’s polite way of saying “stop being scumbags.”

He’s nicer than I am. Last panel I appeared on… let’s just say that the American Beverage Association reps who were present were a little concerned.

On with the video!

I knew that the food industry did lots of evil things after the whole pink slime fiasco. But this man brought up points that I had never thought of before. Misinformed parents are being swindled into buying things for their children that they think is healthful. I mean if its printed write there on the front of your pretty little packaged colorful box, it MUST be true right? We have to educate ourselves if we want to win this fight.

Another thing that has to stop . . .companies paying to be the official drink of high schools or colleges. Howard has so many connections with Pepsi its sad. We actually had a debate on this back in high-school. Is it okay for schools to have sports/soft drinks ads in schools if it brings in a substantial amount of revenue …? Tuh!

I thoroughly enjoyed this piece. Love you for sharing 😉

LOVE your site. Just signed up. If this were someone else’s site and you were just beginning your journey to healthier living, where would you start? You have so much information, I feel a bit overwhelmed. Could you point me to the best starting point on your site? I have been sedentary for years and have a lot to lose. Thank you for your guidance. Have a great day.

I loved his presentation. He bashed the food industry (rightfully so) but at the end, he (correctly) says that it’s not the food industry’s responsibility to do right by us. It is our responsibility to make them behave ethically/responsibly. And that is the most important part. Who is here to teach the general population about real food now that processed food has replaced real cooking? Who is here to limit deceptive advertising? I completely agree it is absurd to believe the food industry would police itself.
