I commute in to work each morning. So I usually do a simple breakfast. I fix me a cup of wheat bran cereal with 2% milk and a banana. I am usually good to go until lunch time. I want to start drinking smoothies in the morning. Is that a good idea?

I try my best to eat breakfast every morning. When i'm in a big rush i at least grab a piece of fruit. Better than no breakfast at all lol

Thank you! Thaks good to know. I read it in a blog post on a fitness site (not sure if I sent it to you) but it sounded strange to me, so I had to ask. I've felt a LOT better since I began eating oatmeal in the morning and the weight is slowly coming off. I need to up my exercise and I'm sure I'll see better results.

(I saw your e-mail about this, the oatmeal, and I just couldn't find anything to legitimately substantiate those claims. Not only do I advocate for oatmeal, but it's in ALL of the meal plans I offer on the blog.)

For the last several months I've been consistently eating breakfast. I do wait until I get to work but at least I eat it now. I used to be so famished that it took a huge lunch to satisfy me. Now I eat oatmeal with raisins or bananas, sweetened with a little agave or honey (Lord, I hope it's real honey) just about every day. I've read bad things about all the carbs in oatmeal but I notice that when I have oatmeal for breakfast I stay full longer and usually just eat a smallish lunch with maybe fruit for snack. I also stopped drinking coffee in the morning. Even the little bit of sweetener I put in it had me craving sugar all day.

Although I'm not a morning person, I still find time to sit down and eat breakfast while watching the news before I head off to work. A lot of people seem to eat (or not eat) when they come in to work and then have lunch around 1pm. I can't do that to myself because I'll overdo it when lunch time comes around. Then I'll have to deal with the itis when I go back to work.

I'm finally getting myself in gear to lose weight since I still have my handsome face. My supervisor tried to give me a huge pastry yesterday and I respectfully declined for the first time. Thanks to your sight and past experiences with weight loss, I have a solid game plan to finally get back to my high school weight.

Reecie, see, breakfast was never a huge deal - a lot of the things that my Mom did, we never talked about why.. so it was easy for me to abandon a lot of it when I got older. Besides, at a certain age, I was waking up so late that I was nothin' to skip breakfast and go on with my day. Silly, right? It sounds like you've got the perfect setup to avoid the downfalls of skipping breakfast... now if we could only avoid this 'itis issue! :)

Cryssy, thanks! What do you consider a full breakfast, I wonder? Sometimes, we get hung up on the full meals we see on TV or in the commercials, and don't realize that a lot of that is marketing - they want us to buy the hash browns, the eggs, the toast, the sausage - and it's unnecessary to do so much. A nice chunk of fruit, or a breakfast bar can sometimes do the trick pretty well if you follow it up with a snack an hour or so later, much like Reecie said above. Give it a shot!

my mom taught me as a child to always eat breakfast, so it something I've always done. I usually only have juice at home in the morning, but I work less than 10 min from my house so I eat when I get there. its small--usually a cereal bar, coffee, then fruit or apple sauce, then I have a snack again at 11, and lunch between 1-2. eating every couple hours keeps my energy up. the only time I really get the itis is if I eat TOO MUCH at lunch and it makes me heavy and lethargic.

I have never thought about eating breakfast is breaking a fast --very valid.

I find for me there is no way I can eat a FULL breakfast I would want to crawl back in bed.

But I also know when I don't consume anything I am starving and over eating by 11:30.LOL

The balance for me is a Carnation Instant Breakfast couple of pieces of fruit or some meat. It really does change the flow of my eating routine for the day, for the better.

As always sis, great post!
