Mary J. Blige. Standing on a table. With a conk. Singing about chicken. Yes, yes, y'all. That's the 411 (hun.) ...

    Well let’s see:
-Went to see Hunger Games & then I read that idiot fan bigots are upset that some of the characters in the book that are clearly described as black, are played by black actors.

    - The whole Trayvon Martin debacle.

    - Sunday I got stopped for DWB in a (mostly white) suburb.

-Today I see MJB eating chicken in a BK commercial with background dancers all but shucking and jiving.

My head and my heart just hurts.

And who cares if racist said something bad about the “Hunger Games” actors being Black. They just made a fool out of themselves. If you let what people say bother you, you are just going to hurt yourself. The Trayvon case was sad and you were DWB was awful but the “Hunger Games” situation, to me they were just idiot making a fool out of themselves.

Everybody’s got bills to pay. And Burger King’s money is just as green.

Just to say in advance I can’t see the video you posted. Probably my computer being silly again so i am speaking from the video i saw on Youtube. I didn’t see Ms Blige eating one piece of the chicken in the commercial all i saw was her just singing a jingle for BK’s new sandwich. I am not going to bash her for this. She is a grown woman and probably thought nothing of it but to make some extra cash,Is everyone in an uproar over the fact that Mary J Blige the singer did this ad and its “beneath her? Or are people angry because she is African American and she shouldn’t be in any ad that involves any stereotypical foods? Why doesn’t anyone say anything about the Popeye
s commercial, That lady is a mess. Why not address the fact that MacDonalds ads have mostly black actors in there commercials, promoting unhealthy foods.

Basically I agree with Roxie. We need to get past the point where we focus on minute and mundane stereotypes…all people eat chicken. The commercial itself was not very good it was a silly commercial and the people around her should have told her so.

Was this suppose to be racist? Ok then. At the end of the day it’s Mary J. Blige choice.

In my opinion, this is not about MJB being a grown woman and making her money. Usually, I follow the theme “if it doesn’t make dollars, it doesn’t make sense (cents)”. However, I gotta check my homie MJB on this one. Why? MJB may not eat at Burger King, but many of her fans do, which is why Burger King hired her in the first damn place. People of color disproportionately eat more fast food than others and acquire chronic diseases (high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease) related to our diets. We live in environments with minimal or no supermarkets with fresh foods and vegetables. Also junk food (fat, sugar) is cheaper. As a result, we don’t need MJB encouraging us to eat more “ish”. I love her, but I have to put MJB on blast with this one. BTW, Posh Spice’s hubby David Beckham is pimping smoothies for McDonalds or Burger King. Although fast food smoothies aren’t that much better, even the Brits aren’t stupid enough to blatantly pimp fried chicken in 2012. MJB, stop the madness!

I’m just wondering if she would of made a commercial for subway “chicken sub” would people be in a up roar? Its a commercial, all commercials are silly and people gonna eat what they want.
